Properties of cast iron:

Cast iron is characterized by its ability to retain heat and cold for a long time – an advantage for you especially when cooking and baking, but also for cooling food and drinks. Another advantage: cast iron is extremely durable.

Instructions for use:

Before first use, you should rinse the cast iron product several times with warm water and dry it thoroughly. Cast iron can be used for all types of heat sources except microwaves. If you use a stove, please always make sure to cover the bottom of the product with oil, water, or something similar before heating.
You should allow hot products to cool down before washing them by hand.

Avoid sudden temperature changes, for example by filling a still hot product with cold contents. Otherwise, there is a risk of damaging the enamel coating.

Dry the product carefully after each use. You should avoid using detergents and rough sponges, as these may scratch the coating.

Since cast iron is partly made of iron, the material may develop a brownish discoloration after prolonged contact with water in combination with air. This is natural for the kettle, but you can easily prevent it by using small amounts of cooking oil. Over time, a deposit will form on the inner enamel coating, in tea kettles the so-called patina, a brownish film, which provides additional protection and prevents the tea from developing a bitter aftertaste.

If you follow these few instructions, you will enjoy our unique and beautifully shaped JA-UNENDLICH cast iron products for a long time!
